Would You Pray?

Would You Pray?

Text: Psalm 119:129-136

Key Verse- The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. Vs 130 NRSV

Psalm 119 is full of prayers, the whole book of Psalms actually. Sometimes it seems there are no prayers one could pray or we are just at a loss for words in prayer. Such occasions are best times to use the Psalms to pray. You may adopt the Psalm as your prayer book-praying like 5 Psalms a day using the calendar dates. For instance, if today is 17, you would read Psalm 17, Ps 47, Ps 77, Ps 107 and Ps 137. So the principle is, start with the day’s date and subsequently add 30 days. From these Psalms, you can make your prayers as your heart connects with them. It is a very simple and helpful way to understand the mind of God and to pray according to the will of God.

But now, would you pray from today’s passage:

  • Pray that God will give attention to you and His grace will be upon you vs 132
  • Pray for the Spirit’s guidance, so sin’s trappings won’t make you stumble vs 133
  • Pray that you will not be at the mercy of proud and oppressive men vs 134
  • Pray that God’s favor will surround you vs 135

Prayer– May the LORD hear you when you call. May His eyes shine upon you and give you peace. Amen.
