Trust In Psalms-4

Trust in God’s Mercy

Psa 13:5  But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Why won’t you trust in God’s mercy? God’s mercy results in salvation. There is always a connection between God’s mercy and salvation as the Psalmist showed. When God’s mercy is revealed to someone, salvation is the result and rejoicing is the expression on our part. Salvation here is ‘to keep alive’ and it consists of nourishment, preservation, restoration, repair, recovery etc. These are the ways God keeps us alive because of His mercy shown to us. No man can keep another alive. No one can show mercy in this way.

The mercy of God is kindness. It is manifested in favour and good deeds toward its beneficiaries. David showed the kindness of  (2 Sam 9:3) to Mephibosheth and the result was elevation (restoration). Mephibosheth, a former prince, had been forgotten and hidden in Lodebar. But by the kindness of God, his shame was wiped away-for that was the meaning of his name.

Many, in the days of Jesus Christ, received help when they cried, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” Many were healed of different sicknesses and diseases, few raised from the dead and others received forgiveness of sins.

Will you not trust and seek the mercies of God? Why will you continue to struggle- leaning on your own understanding and resources to no avail?
