John 14
It was like a retreat with his disciples beginning from the time he washed their feet and when he gave the New Commandment. Jesus spent time to talk about some other important things they needed to know and understand. First he talked about the way to Heaven and what they were to expect there. Jesus declared to them, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” Throughout the journey of a believer with Christ, Jesus is His ONLY access to the Father. He is the only key and reason anyone could stand before the Father and ultimately gain entry into Heaven.
Jesus also spoke about the Holy Spirit’s role in the life of the believer. All Heavens graces are communicated ONLY through the Holy Spirit. Jesus links us up, the Holy Spirit brings Heaven down. One is the Key going up, the other is the Channel bringing all graces down.
Lesson: There are no short-cuts to Heaven and Heaven’s resources- through Christ Jesus we gain access, by the Holy Spirit we receive all Heaven’s help. Human strength has any value.
