Five days to passover

John 12:12-19

It was a great crowd marching and chanting towards Jerusalem. With palm branches in their hands they sang victoriously as to war. In their midst was the ‘King’ they would go to Jerusalem to crown. For them it was time to restore the Kingdom back to Israel and Jesus the Son of Joseph was the rightful heir. ‘Save us’, ‘Save us’ they sang as they went to repossess the throne of David.

There was something different about this ‘King’. Instead of a horse he rode on a donkey, yet they could not see that they were at cross-purpose with this supposed ‘King’.

The Kingdom is about to enter a new phase, prophecy was about to be fulfilled. The King would soon be crowned…but not as the crowd had expected.

Notice that the disciples also did not understand these things until after He entered into glory. But how did they understand? They found later from Scriptures that these events had been written about Him.

Could God be doing a great thing and we are at cross-purpose with or even in opposition to Him?

What do you do when God’s ways are not aligned to your expectations or popular opinions?

Lesson– If we will give ourselves diligently to the Scriptures, we will not work against God when His purposes are being carried out in ways that are contrary to popular opinions.
