Four Truths to believe in Chapter One
#4. For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake vs 29
Many believers have believed as a first step but have not gone beyond. They have tasted of the grace of God that opens a way to a new life in Christ. But they have not known the favour of God granted to them in enduring suffering for Christ. Suffering has become a foul word in the Christian circle, but it actually a favour shown to those who have also believed. It is done on behalf of Christ as his representative and for his sake because it gratifies him. Oh, may we know the fellowship of his suffering, being made conformable to his death that we may attain to his resurrection. It is those who suffer with him that also reign with him. Let us not despise suffering when it comes to us from the hand of the Lord. It is our service to him for his glory and praise.
