#1 Truth
The Bible is true and whatever it says is accordingly true. However, there are truths that we need to internalize by believing because they have great impact on our hope and living the Christian life. Let’s try and explore a few of them in the first Chapter of the book of Philippians
- … he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. vs 6.
The Holy Spirit is the one who began this good work. It began right from the time the members of the church believed the gospel. It continued in the life of the church as a community. What is this good work? The church began to partner with those who propagated the gospel, the Apostles. The church partnered with the Apostles in Mission work. The work of evangelizing other nations became something they were concerned and passionate about and would see it accomplished. It was the work of the Holy Spirit in this church and in all local churches to come. This work being the work of the Spirit will continue beyond the individual members of the church. It will continue until the return of Christ.
Let us note that if we are not doing this work, we are not partnering with the Holy Spirit the author of it. If we are not partnering with God in this way, we are most likely working against it. Your ignorance or refusal to partner is a work against the Spirit of God who has come to seek and save the lost among the nations. This is one effort that God is committed to and He will not relent or be weary. This partnership work in the gospel paves the way for nations to come to faith. By implication, not partnering denies the families of the earth the blessing of Abraham promised long ago by God who does not lie. Whereas God wants to fulfil this promise, he has hinged it on the sons of Abraham by faith. Therefore, our refusal limits God’s pace at fulfilling that promise. Hence, we must arise to partner with God through those He has commissioned to carry the gospel to the nations.
