Holy in human circumstances

Our negative circumstances or realities do not impact on the holiness of God. It is interesting to note that before the revelation of the things that would befall the earth, the holiness of God was very firmly established. God is holy despite what we go through. When the Seals were opened, it became clear that the things to come are not pleasant. They were described as ‘Woe, woe, woe’. The impending doom was raised to the highest degree- meaning that it was confirmed and indescribable in impact. Yet, these sufferings that would come upon the earth do not change the fact that God is Holy.

Many followers of Christ would depart as soon as things go south. They cannot endure hardship or unpleasantness. They begin to blame God for their miseries. Job didn’t- an Old Testament witness who confronts our lack of knowledge of God. With all that he went through, he did not  attribute evil to God. “In spite of everything, Job did not sin or accuse God of doing wrong” Job 1:22. He did not sin neither did he blame God of wrongdoing. These are the two things many have failed in when times are hard or things go against their expectations. Suffering is mostly blamed on God. Our miseries are attributed to God. But God who is Holy cannot be charged with wrongdoing.

The judgment of the last days are merited. They are what men deserved, and not injustice on the part of God. God is perfect in all His works and just in all His ways. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he Dt 32:4 (Rev 15:3)

This is our God! Even in the most painful experiences of men, He is Holy- there is no wrongdoing in Him. He profits nothing to intimidate us with His power or Almightiness. He is high and lifted up but humble and lowly. He is other than all  He has made, yet He interacts with them with gentleness and kindness.

May we go deeper in His knowledge and be better worshippers of His holiness. Amen
