Some Kings And Fathers’ Trust
Ps 20: 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
In the day of trouble, who do you trust? What is your confidence? Some-which is applicable to all men and women- trust in the support, protection and defense they can get from created things and the works of men. Chariots are swift as the horses that drive them. They are made of iron and are strong protection against the enemy’s sword but they do not offer 100% protection.
But we will trust- remember the name of the LORD our God. He will send thee help from the sanctuary and strengthen thee out of Zion vs 2. He will save (His chosen ones), he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right-hand vs 6.
But what happens to those who trust in chariots and horses? They are confounded, disappointed and shattered. Those who trust in horses and chariots are losers- they fail. Only those who trust in the LORD, even when beaten, will rise again. The are never losers!
Ps 21:7 For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.
Specifically, the King or rulers and leaders who trust in the LORD experience the steadfast love of the Most High. God’s steadfast love or His mercy stabilizes. The kindness, goodness, favour and benevolence of God establish the soul, so that it is not moved by what men can do. The Scripture says, the LORD is my helper, I will not fear what man shall do unto me- Heb 13:6. Leaders who trust in the LORD cannot suffer defeat; they cannot be moved out of course.
Are you a father, a mother, a parent, a leader of some sort? Do you trust in the LORD’s mercy? If you do, be assured by the mercy of God that you will not be disappointed.
Ps 22:4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
Psa 22:5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
We may feel like trusting God does not worth it. We may not be experiencing what we expected because of our trust in God. But our God never changes. He is the same God of the fathers who trusted and were helped. They were delivered. They were not put to shame. God is the same. We read the end of their stories but do not see the process by which they came to that end. They also struggled; they cried, they groaned but they were delivered; they received the help they desired from the LORD. Have you stopped crying to the LORD? I am not talking of casual talk with the LORD. I am talking about crying because of the bitterness of your soul about the matter in hand. Have you not become hardened because your situation has not changed? Do you still believe that God does miracles and is interested in the details of your life? Do you still cry to the LORD?
These two words, trust and cry are related. There is a connection. Who you trust is who you call upon- in your difficult time.
Let us remind ourselves that those who trusted in the days of old, though their situations were dire, cried to the LORD and they were helped.
God will help you too. He will help us only if we call upon him with the whole of our hearts.
