The Passover

Exodus 12; 1 Cor 5:7

“Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.” NASU

A rescue mission

The whole tribe of Jacob had been ‘kidnapped’ for more than 400 years. They were forced into slavery, being oppressed and tormented by their masters. The Kingdom of Heaven was an ally of the tribe of Jacob. It was planning and working to release them from the hard rule of the King of Mizraim. All ten attempts at negotiations facilitated by the Kingdom of Heaven had failed! The King of Mizraim was stubborn and full of wrath against the sons of Jacob. There was nothing more to do but for the Kingdom of Heaven to come with all its might against the Kingdom of Mizraim. To ensure no one among the tribe of Jacob was destroyed in the rescue mission, they were told to kill a lamb and put the blood on the door post and lintel of their houses for identification. There would be a mid-night raid on Mizraim- the target would be all the firstborn sons. No house would be spared. But those in houses marked by the blood will not be harmed. And so it happened. All the captives were immediately released when the will of the King of Mizraim was broken along with his people. It was a night of judgment and release.

Jesus Christ is our Passover (Lamb). Those who believe and trust in Him are rescued from the judgment that is coming upon the world and the Prince of this world (already judged Jn 12:31; 16:11). Those who put their trust in Christ Jesus will not perish but have eternal life because they have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

While that judgment is waiting to be executed, believers are invited to announce the redemption that is in Christ. He who believes will be saved; those who do not believe are already condemned.

May we arise to the work while it is day!

“… because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”” Acts 17:31 NASU

HE IS RISEN!
